Legal Question in Criminal Law in New York
Expungement of misdemeanor for littering
Hi, I was charged with littering in Federal Park in Great Kills, Staten Island (dumped about 6 pounds of clean aquarium gravel onto parking lot gravel). First officer said that he is going to give us the fine but once another officer came in (after 30min) they arrested us (me and my father). We have been charged with criminal offence 36CFR2.14(a)(2) for $75 and criminal record. I don't mind the fine but need advise how best to clean up my record. What do I do with my ticket (plea quilty or not)? They also broke my watch with handcuffs, is it possible to get anything for that. Most important is to expunge the record. Thank You. Jonas

This must have been very distressing to you. The police, federal, state, local, foreign; they are all the same. They can over-react insanely.
Plead "NOT GUILTY". There is no way on the planet earth that there will be a trial on this matter for a misdemeanor or felony charge. The chages will be lowered to ensure there will be no jury trial.
If you truly need a 'win' in this situation, give me a call and I will look at the 'information' (the document that establishes the charges) and give you some meaningful advice.
You are welcome to a consultation for no fee.
