Legal Question in Criminal Law in New York

Failure to follow park signage

I was sitting on the lawn of Union Square Park on a Monday I didn't realize the park was closed on Monday, I was the only one there because it had just rained I thought. The Park Guards gave me $65 fine not believing me I didn't know it was prohibited. The second guard told the first guard to make it a criminal court summons instead of a ticket. When I appear in court should I plea not guilty? Will it go on my record because it is criminal court?

Best Regards,

Re: Failure to follow park signage

It is possible this will go on your record, although I am unable to be certain without seeing the summons. A lot will depend on what they are charging you with. I would suggest you speak with an attorney, so it can be determined exactly what charges you are facing. Please feel free to contact my office if you would like to discuss this matter further.
