what are the penalties for filing a false police report on purpose to get someone jailed

In NY state, Filing a false report is a misdemeanor and can result in a year in jail and a fine of not more than $1000. If the person is charged with perjury, then it can be a felony with a potential prison term of over 1 year in jail and a stiffer fine.
