Legal Question in Criminal Law in New York
Federal or not ?
I testified in front of grand jury as a victim, but now I dont wanna be a part of it anymore. I want to move on with my life and move out of the state. Is it too late to drop charges?
Even if its a federal case ? How do I know if its a federal case or not ?

Re: Federal or not ?
YOu cannot drop the charges, You can tell the prosecutor of your wishes and he or she will have to make some decisions. If you are adament hire your own counsel to protect you and to push and negotiate with the prosecutor.
If you have a federal case, you testified before a federal grand jury in a US District court. Otherwise it was a state case and the prosecutor is an Assistant District Attorney.
Good Luck.
