Legal Question in Criminal Law in New York

felony 3rd

i'm charged with arson in the 3rd and have per the county to much worth for a public defender but have no liquid assets to get a lawyer / what can i do ? shoud i talk to the da about a plea ? even though i . 1 was not the one who started the fire 2 . the other person said i was going to pay them and never said or payed.the item that was set on fire was a barn and the fire damaged other properity(houses)i was the owner of the barn

First. you CAN NOT speak to the DA's office, they will not allow you to discuss your case with them without an attorney... so this is not an option.

You will simply have to hire someone if you do not qualify for a public defender... whether you do a second mortgage on your property, or some other avenue... you MUST secure defense counsel, as on such a charge you could potentially be facing extremely serious legal ramifications, including extended jail sentencing!

If you are accused of paying someone to set a fire, you would be seen as equally gulty under the eyes of the law as an accomplice, and could be facing the same treatment as the person who actually did start the fire...

I can not caution you enough, that this is a CRITICAL and EXTREMELY serious matter...
