Let's start first with the fact that just because you want to drop the charges does not mean that the State will agree to do so. Remember, all criminal actions are brought by the State against a defendant. You become a witness in the case but do not have the ability to dismiss the case. Therefore, before he turns himself in his attorney should seek to resolve the matter in which you brought the charges prior to his arraignment. Also, a call to the warrant squad will "usually" determine if he has another warrant outstanding. Remember to call all jurisdictions in which you want to check warrants. Feel free to call if you require a consultation.
