Legal Question in Criminal Law in New York

Fight Fight Fight

I (22 years old) just had a fight with this guy (22 years old). We both agreed to meet at a discreet location and slug it out. We fought and I broke his arm. What kind of trouble am I possibly going to be in? What are the fines/charges associated with such an act?

You can be in a lot of trouble. If you broke his arm this could be an assault which is a felony. Obviously this individual is going to say that he just met with you to talk things over and that you hit him first.

His injuries are severe and could be permanent. The District Attorney will take this seriously. I would not be so much worried about the fines/charges associated with this type of case, I would be more worried about having a felony record, which could prevent you from obtaining most jobs, woring in the public sector, getting a pasport, going to canada, liquor license etc. And in many of these cases there could be a jail term associated with such contact. At your age, you have your whole life ahead of you.

You should contact a lawyer who practices criminal law. If you like, give me a call.
