Legal Question in Criminal Law in New York
I would like to find out if there is a procedure to get a felony conviction expunged from my record. The convistion is from 1997.

I would like to give you an answer that you want to hear but the truth is in New York State if you were convicted of a crime in New York it is yours for life. New York does not have a sealing or expungment statute nor do we have any way short of a pardon from it effecting you. That being said, if your conviction is from another state, I suggest that you contact an attorney in that state and inquire about the law there.
You can, in very limited cases, get what is called a Certificate of Relief from Civil Disabilities. Although that is not an expungment or sealing nor as helpful as a pardon, it can assist you in certain circumstances with actions taken by law or the state.
