Legal Question in Criminal Law in New York
A foreigner friend got a ticket for taking a nap on a park bench, for which he got a summons. However, he is returning to his home country before the date of the appearance. What should he do? Will this impact his ability to get a visa in the future?

I've handled this type of situation before. With proof that the person is out of the country, the judge will excuse his appearance and likely give an ACD which means the case gets adjourned for 6 months and then dismissed and sealed. It will not impact getting a future visa. I am a former prosecutor and now handle criminal defense. Feel free to contact me if your friend wants to hire a lawyer to deal with the summons.
Your friend should not disregard the summons. He needs to appear either in person or by an attorney. I handle matters such as these on a regular basis with teriffic results. In most cases no criminal record and no immigration problems. I charge very reasonable rates for most of these matters. Please contact my office 27188340087 for a free phone consultation.
