Legal Question in Criminal Law in New York
Forgery
I sighned my husbands name on a loan for my daughter to go to college in 2000. Now we are going through a divorce (seperated for 2yrs) and he wants to sue me because he doesn't want to pay for it anymore. Is there a limitation in time for him to sue me on such a matter? Is it forgery?

Re: Forgery
It is not a forgery if it was done with his permission. The Statute of Limitations on the criminal act is 5 years and the civil action is 1 year. Either way he is over his Statute of Limits.
