Forgery in the First
According to New York State Forgery in the 1st degree is a class C felony...I was wonder what the possible sentences would be for such an act.

It also depends upon whether there is a prior felony conviction on the record.

The sentence for this non-violent C felony would be an indeterminate sentence: minimum would be 1 to 3 years; maximum would be 5 to 15 years.
As an example, if your sentence were 1 to 3 years, you would be eligible for parole after one (1) year. If denied parole, you would serve no more than 2 years, assuming you got 1/3 time off for good behavior in prison.

The excellent advice that has already been posted notwithstanding, there are simply too many considerations taken into account for sentencing to adequately address in a message board type response. Contact the Bar Association in your county to speak with an attorney who is knowledgeable about sentencing.
