An 18 year old found with a pocket knife was given a summons and has to appear in court. Does he need an attorney? Should a parent be present? What could the fine be?

If one can afford counsel, then it is adviseable to retain one. The attorney will protect the rights and interests of the adolescent. An 18 year old does not need a parent in court, although having one present will always help.Without more info,I can not determine the outcome in court.
