Legal Question in Criminal Law in New York
fraud?
So I dated this girl and for a while she lived with me furnished the apt with her credit cards an bought me 2 vehicles on her credit cards. Here's the thing. She let me use her cards as long as I made the payments for the purchases. We've been broken up for a couple months an now I'm getting txts from her mother saying she's pressing charges against me for fraud. I did sign for a few purchases. But with the verbal agreement that I'd pay the payments. After we separated she refused to give me statements so I could make the payments. And when I did give her money she never gave me any receipts an find out that she never applied the money I gave her towards the balances. Am I in the wrong? I mean her mother is trying to have me arrested for credit card fraud. What are my options legally because I don't believe that I've done anything wrong. I've never forged her name I always signed my name. Can someone please help me out? Thank you

Re: fraud?
Based upon the information you presented, you can be arrested for the actions you have taken. You are in need of legal representation. You should consult with an attorney in your area who concentrates in criminal law.

Re: fraud?
I agree with Mr. Salinger. You have nothing in writing giving you permission to use her credit card. It is interesting to note that you signed for several of the purchases, but you may have signed her name to others.
If you had given your girlfriend a check you would have a receipt. If you had paid the credit card companies directly, they would have received the monies.
I am just afraid that the daughter will be influenced by the mother to have criminal charges brought against you.
If you would like to contact me, I am in downtown Buffalo and have handled hundreds of cases such as yours.
