Legal Question in Criminal Law in New York
Fraud
I gave $20,000 to someone to invest in their
company two years ago. I have not seen a report
or up date on the status of the company in those
two years. I have constantly called that person
asking for updates, and I have always gotten the
response, ''I'm waiting for a phone call,'' ''In a
week.'' I'm so fed up, and I know that that person
has stolen my money. I finally just asked for my
money back, because I have not seen any signs
that the money has gone to what it was intended
for. Is their anything I can do to get my money back
and if so, what and how?

Re: Fraud
Hire an attorney to write and serve a "demand" letter stating that you want your money returned by a date certain. If that does not work, then you will have to decide if there assets available justifying a civil suit, or whether or not you go to the District Attorney's office and seek an Indictment for Grand Larceny and fraud.
Good Luck.
