Legal Question in Criminal Law in New York
Friend received a pink summons for being in the park not realizing it was closed in December of 2010. He was walking with his girlfriend and claimed to have paid both tickets. However, the police came to girlfriends house to take her to court stating there was a warrant out for her arrest. What can she do?

She should hire an attorney as quickly as possible to help clear up the matter. Pink summonses are easily handled but if one fails to appear in Court on the scheduled date for even a park after dark, public urination, or open container violation, then a warrant will be issued for her arrest.
In her case, it appears as though her 'friend' failed to pay her summons or more likely, her personal appearance in Criminal Court was REQUIRED.
My office handles matters such as this on a daily basis and we would be happy to provide a fee quote on request.
Good luck!
It would be highly recommended to have an experienced lawyer to defend her and preserve her rights in court. It would also greatly increase the chance of lowering the charges. We have substantial experience handling these types of cases and reasonable fees, however, we would need some more information before making a complete and proper determination.
