What State is the conviction in? Many States have expungement statutes.

assuming the conviction is in new york, it stays for life unless you receive a pardon from the governor, which are given, but very rarely.

Grand Larceny in the Fourth Degree is a Class E Felony. Unfortunately, New York does not provide the option of expungement. If you were convicted of this offense it will remain on your record for life. You may make an application to the court in which you were convicted to attempt to obtain a Certificate of Relief from Civil Disabilities. This may help you with regard to many job opportunities that you might otherwise be disqualified from. Good Luck!
