For a loaded firearm, the sentence depends on the degree of the crime charged. Whichever degree is charged, it's considered a "violent felony", and the sentence could be anywhere from Probation (and no jail time) to 25 years (determinate).

this is a felony, which is being taken very seriously now by the courts - im just finishing a case like this where i am getting probation for my client but there is the potential for serious time to be served on such a charge.

The amount of time you can receive for being caught in possession of a loaded firearm can vary widely. Information that would be needed to answer your question is what the top charge is, if the person who was arrested has any prior convictions and if so what for, if the person was in possession of the firearm in their home or place of business.
