Legal Question in Criminal Law in New York
harassing e-mails
Hi. I have a question. Recently I have been receiving very harassing e-mails from a sister of a man that I chatted on-line stating that she was going to post some messages on-line and around Greenwich Village stating that I am a bad person and likes to use men. My question is this: is there anyway legally I could stop her from doing this and is this could be considered harassment. Thank you very much in advance.

Re: harassing e-mails
Its called Aggravated Harassment and its a crime -a Class A Misdemeanor. If you have not already done so, you should email back to the person that you do not wish to receive any further communications (in any form) from her. If she persists, you could file a complaint with the police. You should save printouts of the emails you receive and your reply telling her to stop bothering you.
