Legal Question in Criminal Law in New York

I live on long island NY and have a serious problem i need help with-I cant afford a attorney either

about 8-10 yrs ago i had this girl i was friends with and the friendship ended for a few months after i wrote her asking why she ended friendship and sent her a card or 2 even called-finally I gave up now shoot to present i have had no contact with her no card letters or called her. everyonce in a while if i saw her in a public place she would scream at me curse me out for having nerve to be in a public place where she was or in a town that she lived in. I myself have recieved hang up calls and always have to look whereever i go to make sure she isnt there i need help apparently she got a card and has accused me of sending it.

what are the legalitys how do i fight it how do i prove anything? can i be arrested for something i havent done?

This is a difficult problem. At this point in time it is not something that a lawyer can help you with.

the problem is, as you know, that at a later time she may file with the police charges for harassment.

you should be ok in that 1) there have been no phone calls for 6 months, 2) there have been no letters for 6 months, and 3) there are no repeated events where you find her in a public place in the last 6 months. (she needs witnesses for the public places).
