Legal Question in Criminal Law in New York
Hello,
I was recently arrested for the possession of a tiny amount of marijuana, and after spending almost a day in jail, was released with an ACD charge with a four-month probation period.
Is this a misdemeanor, and will this arrest show on a background check? If yes, will it show specifically as a drug-related charge?
I look forward to hearing an answer. Thank you very much in advance.

An ACD stand for Adjournment in Contemplation of Dismissal. If you keep away from any legal entanglements for one year, it is dismissed. You have not been convicted of a crime and do not have a record.
It is difficult to say what will show up on a background check these days. I have seen 15 year old tickets for riding a bicycle on a sidewalk show up. Be prepared to explain it if it comes up but don't volunteer any information.
If you don't get rearrested within 1 year, the charges will be dismissed and the record presumeably sealed. You can truthfully answer that you have never been convicted of a crime.
