Legal Question in Criminal Law in New York
hit by attorney/wife
My soon to be ex wife who is also an attorney in NY hit me with her car intentionally, causing personal injury to myself. I filed a criminal complaint against her and no action was taken by the DA. Does that affect her law license because a complaint was filed or do charges have to be filed by the DA?

Re: hit by attorney/wife
Your complaint will not effect your ex-wife's law license. She would only have to report it if she was convicted of a crime (a misdemeanor or felony but not a violation). The DA will not take action until the police make an arrest. You should follow-up with the police. If you have an injury, the statute of limitations for an intentional assault in New York is 1 year.
