Legal Question in Criminal Law in New York
my ex husband has been charged with harassing and physically harming my daughter. my son witnessed it. Statements were made to the police. Now my ex's lawyer wants to speak to my son alone. My son is only 14 years old. Is this kosher? Why should he speak to this lawyer alone? What d you suggest be done?

You do not have to allow it because he is only 14, but if your ex has visitation and during visitation he permits it there is nothing you can do about it. Your son however can refuse to talk to the lawyer or set any conditions he wishes, like insisting you be present.
