Legal Question in Criminal Law in New York
Is it possible to get my husband on murder charges
I live in the state of ny I have been married for 26 years I am currently seeking a divorce but he has left the country. My question is on June 12,2007 my husband hit me, choked me and pushed me where my knee cap got fractured. And I will be having surgery soon I want to know if I can have him arrested for attempted murder this is not the first time he hit me but after all of this he will never hit me again. I also would like to say that he was a state cop and he told me he would tell then it was self defense , but I did tell a cop( not this time the time before and he always hit me when he wanted to cheat on me )and he said he was gonna arrest him so at that time I did nothing but after my knee ,and the strap and how I begged him to help me as i lied in hall he said no. At this time i knew that he was going to kill me. Second he always said that he would pay 5,000 dollars to have me killed What do you think ?

Two months after the incident, in the middle of a disputed divorce . . . you have an uphill battle if you want criminal charges filed.
My suggestion is that you call/contact an attorney in your area and sit down and talk about your options.

Even though it has been two months you should still file a police report. Many cases of domestic violence go unreported. You will have medical records to help back you up. While the delay in reporting will hurt your case at least you can get a record started and try to obtain an order of protection so your husband will have to stay away from you when he returns.
