Legal Question in Criminal Law in New York
immigration and crime
i married an us citizen an i left him
because he was abusive. The first
thing he did it is to call the
immigration to report a fraud in the
marriage.
Therefore the immigration sent me
by certified mail a document to
appeal in the house i used to live
with him. despite the fact my
husband was in contact with me
trough our divorce attorneys he
never gave the paper to me.
Consequently the immigration sent
to the same address a notice of
deportation in march.
my husband and his attorney showed
it to my attorney only in may so the
delay to appeal in front of the judge
expired. Basically my husband
expected me to be deported so he
does have to pay me alimony.
I am shocked that his attorney who
knew about that since the document
is dated participate to this illegal
strategy.
my question is:
Did my husband commit a crime
holding official documents and
opening my mail? then how can i sue
him.
second, How can i report this
unethical attorney?

Re: immigration and crime
Your FIRST concern should be to contact an immigration attorney yourself and see if anything can be done with your case, as a result of the delay caused by the divorce...
