international age of censent question

I was wondering how the age of consent works across borders. If a person were to engage in a sexual conversation on-line, exchange of personal pictures and/or video or have a telephone conversation of a sexual manner, how does the law apply? In England, the age of consent is 16. If an adult (age 40) were to engage in this way with a 16 year old who lived there, while the adult were in New York and the 16 year old in England

This is not a matter of the age of consent; it is a matter of theage of majority. If the person on the other end is under 18, then the adult (person over age 18) can be criminally prosecuted. Even if her 18th birthday is tomorrow, what I think you are asking about is illegal today.
