Hi I have been having problems with people in a chat room. It has come to where they have made a profile up about me and have personal information such as my address and prior phone number. They some how got my ss# and have threatend to kill me ect. I have filed a complaint with the local state police barraks and they will be fowarding all my evidence to the Da.I was told to ignore the people and stay away from the chat room. Wich I have . My friend on the other has been going in there and says that they are still bringing in my real name profile that has ss# on it my real address and old disconected phone number. I am so mentaly drained and very upset I have been living hell. I dont know what to do how to make this all stop and feel safe and not violated. I feel that there will be nothing done to this person legaly! Please I really need some advice!

Re: Internet Stalking

YOu need to contact an attorney who can take strong steps to protect your identity. You must get the chatroom to discontinue the profile and take action to find out who is stalking you. Then you can sue them. They may have violated several federal laws.

If you wish to speak to a lawyer about this, I have handled similar cases and work in the area of fraud and Internet crimes. You can reach me through the links below.

Good Luck.

Re: Internet Stalking

First of all you should be proud of yourself for having taken the steps you have already, youre on the proper path ths far.

Now, your choice is this. Let the authorities handle this matter. However, the authorities will not necessarily immediately seek to have this information on you removed.

Your other option is to hire an attorney to fight the webmasters directly to remove this information. If, however this is the option you chose I would first try and contact the website myself and see if you, on your own, can speak to them and threaten legal action to see if they remove the page with your info... if you are succesful then you may hae no further need at this poin to spend any money out of pocket with this matter.

If, however, you need further assistance we are always available for a free consultation. you may reach us at 212.709.8303
