Legal Question in Criminal Law in New York

investigating accusations that may be false

If a person made a report to child protection - anonymously and blocked the call, can the police get the phone records when the person in question (who was investigated) feels that the allegations were false. If so, and the incident is investigated - what type of repurcutions does the caller face when they believed that there was a problem ?
