Legal Question in Criminal Law in New York
I was involved in a sting operation in a drug deal of controlled substances. I was approaching to get a very small amount when the cops came in and arrested everyone. They told me I will be charged with a NYS misdemeanor for possession. However, they said that I will go to court say not guilty and it will more than likely be dropped to a violation. Should I believe this and what form of action should I take?

It is always better to hire a criminal defense attorney to protect your interests in Court. If your case is not downgraded to a violation, you could be convicted of a misdemeanor and you will have a criminal record for the rest of your life.

This case depends on the county of arrest. In Brooklyn, Bronx or Manhattan, it probably will be reduced to a violation or even a dismissal. Did you actually make to buy or were you arrested first. That situation could result in a dismissal.

More specific information is necessary before offering an opinion. You do face a misdemeanor conviction if that is what you are charged with. This will affect you for the rest of your life. Therefore you should retain a competent criminal defense attorney to protect your rights and interests. You may contact my office @ 7188340087 for a free phone consultation.
