Legal Question in Criminal Law in New York
Ipod Theft
So my ipod went missing a couple of months ago and i suspected my roomate but i had no proof. I recieved a call a week ago from a girl who sais she found my ipod in his hoodie. She knew it was mine because she plugged it in and it still had my name assigned to it. She didnt take it from him so he still has it. She has given me a signed letter saying what she found and how she found out it was mine. She had no idea i was missing an ipod and thats why i trust her. Do i have a case against my roomate? If so what action would i take?

No I dont think the police would jump on this investigation. Buy a new ipod and move on.
