Re: jail time?

Get back to court and vacate the warrant before the police do it for him and put him in jail. You should get him a local lawyer which will reduce the chance he will be held after vacating the warrant. If his record is not clean, definitely get him a lawyer to go to court with.

Good Luck.

Re: jail time?

The charges are not serious, assuming no prior record.. However, your son has compounded things by missing the court date. Its likely that the judge issued a bench warrant for your son so he is subject to arrest at any time. I recommend that your son retain a criminal lawyer and then go to court to take care of the matter. I do criminal work and am a former state and federal prosecutor so please feel free to contact me if you wish. The above is for informational purposes only as there is currently no attorney-client relationship.

Re: jail time?

I presume your son either received summon's or an appearance ticket. In either event ,he should retain a COMPETENT CRIMINAL DEFENSE ATTORNEY. The attorney will arrange a surrender, move to vacate the warrant and depending upon your son's prior criminal record, negotiate a no jail plea. I handle matters such as this on a regular basis.
