Legal Question in Criminal Law in New York
Job application following arrest
I was arrested in may 2006 on a disorderly conduct charge. The charge was reduced to a violation pending dismissal and I have had no further legal problems since. I am currently filling out a job application and need to know if I must disclose this information. The box states ''Have you ever been convicted of any criminal offense including felony and/or misdemeanor''

Re: Job application following arrest
Disorderly conduct is a violation, not a crime. If you were convicted of disorderly conduct, its not a crime and you can answer the question "NO." If you received a dismissal - either outright or an adjournment in contemplation of dismissal, its obviously not a conviction of any kind and you can answer "NO."
Re: Job application following arrest
you can honestly answer NO - you have not been convicted orf any crime.
