Legal Question in Criminal Law in New York

joining the marines

Hi, I'm going into the Marines in November, and when i was 16 i got introuble cause i was in a stolen car with my friend. I plead to disorderly conduct, and they said if i don't get arrested by age 18 it will all be off my record, which i haven't. So my question when they do a background screening, Will anything come up? and when they fingerprint me?

You got some faulty advice. First you have not been convicted of a crime. The Dis con as we often call it is a permanent thing and will show up on the FBI check if one is performed. Hence you do not have a criminal record per se, but the arrest information is out there as is the conviction for a non crime violation.

Before signing any document concerning your record you may want to check with an attorney. Depending on how the question is worded the arrest may not ever come up but it would be a bad thing to lie on a document you are offering to the federal government.
