Legal Question in Criminal Law in New York
Judgment satisfactorily paid
If you receive a legal letter stating that judgment has been wholly paid from the past and then receive another letter stating that you still owe, is this wrong practice?

Re: Judgment satisfactorily paid
What matters is whether or not the judgment was paid, not what a letter alleges. If the judgment was paid you are entitled to a Satisfaction of Judgment from the judgment creditor. It should be filed with the County Clerk. That documents "tells the world" the debt has been satisfied.
The above is for information purposes. It is not legal advice.
