Legal Question in Criminal Law in New York
Jury duty - law read in court inaccurate?
While on jury duty, the case was 2nd burglary. The law was not read by the judge as i see it written in the penal code 140.25. And the kid was convicted as a 2nd time violent offender. Why would the judge not have read exactly what i can read form the NYS penal Code? No weapon was spoken about during the trial and the person let them in the apartment. No violent acts.
Thanks.

Re: Jury duty - law read in court inaccurate?
The only thing I can tell you is that as a juror, you are sworn to apply the law as read and instructed by the judge and not consider anything else you might have heard or read.
