Legal Question in Criminal Law in New York
laid off
twice now I have started working at two different jobs and was let go because I received a criminal record in 1985. is there anything that can be done about this since it has been almost 20 years ago. thank you for your time.

You can get a certificate of relief from civil disabilities.That being said, without an employment contract you can be dismissed without cause or reason.If you are a union member you may also have some additional rights.You may also petition the court to seal your record under certain circumstances.This however is a costly matter.
