Legal Question in Criminal Law in New York
Larceny 3rd
My husband was accused of stealing his own paychecks from his employer.. He is on parole for a totally differnt crime.. He has been sitting in the county jail for 6 months and nothing is happeneing.. How long do they have to indict him on this bogus charge... No one understands how you can steal your own paycheck for one and for two, the accusor did make his statement til the day after my husband made his and did not sign his statment til two after my husband signed his... It is a very stcky mess and we are truly confused on alot of points... His public defender took on the case when we could not afford to keep the lawyer I had retained for this mess but does not seem to be moving this case anywhere and we do not know why.. Is there any light you could shed on this whole messy situation I would really appreciate it ?? Thank you, Confused and Angry

It is very difficlut to give you an answer without all of the information, and it sounds as if the only issue is your attorneys strategy which is something i can not criticize. What i can say is that generally with legal aid things move slower because of how many cases they're handling at the same time...
