depends. if your lawyer is retained you can change whenever you want. if your lawyer is appointed (legal aid, 18-b), you need the court's permission and you would have to have a good reason.

The client has an absolute right to change attorneys at any point in the proceedings. The only limitation would be if the court believes the change is being done in order to unduly delay the proceedings. In such cases, permission to change may be conditioned upon the new attorney being ready to proceed immediately.
