Legal Question in Criminal Law in New York
Long story short. My husband is serving a 20yrs. flat sentence for 1st degree manslaughter. He took the deal before it went to trial in 2005. My question to you is that he wants his time cut in half can it be done and how much am I looking to pay from start to finish?

Once someone is given a legal sentence in New York State Courts it can not be changed. The only thing that can be done is to try to bring case back to court with evidence that the conviction was not valid on a constitutional ground such as ineffective assistance of counsel. The process is expensive and you would almost certainly lose.
