Legal Question in Criminal Law in New York

Menacing question

My younger brother was written up with ''menacing'' PL 120.14 after a confrontation with someone and pulling out a pellet gun.

He has no prior record, and I was wondering if I should hire a lawyer for him or get a court appointed one. What is the difference and how much would it cost??

And what would he have to do to get a ''public defender?''

Any other advice?? Thank you.

Re: Menacing question

Make sure he is properly represented. In most cases retaining a private competent criminal defense attorney will result in more personal attention. If economics is a factor then Legal Aid or a Public defender is available.Remember only the truly indigent will qualify not those looking to avoid spending money. I would be happy to discuss the facts of the case and possible outcomes. Contact my office @ 7188340087 to set up a consultation.
