Legal Question in Criminal Law in New York

Miranda rights

I had an officer come to my home and his first words were ''I'm here to arrest you'', this being my first time in the situation went on to tell him what I had done. He then said everything I just told him he would use to testify against me in court. I asked him about reading me my rights and he said that since he didnt take me in he didn't have to do that. He proceded to hand me a piece of paper with the charge and when I was to appear in court and told me to call and schedule a time to come in for fingerprints and picture taken because his shift was almost over and he didn't want to call and wake up the judge. What are my legal rights?I
