Legal Question in Criminal Law in New York
mistakenly put 2 granolas & sushi in my other bag when checking out at whole foods. I didnt even realize it. I was grabbed by the shoulders by security at door and dragged through store to office. I was tried to explain but he said "everyone says that". I was so upsetvand knew Ishould cooperate and not say much. I apologized. He said they werent calling police or arresting me but i had to sign papers. I asked to wait and if i could instead talk to high level person. I was upset and wanted to get out of there -bi had to sign papers or they would call police..i live in area and already embarrassed and humiliated so i signed the papers, they took my photo and info. I asked for copies but he said no. But that now i amnbanned to enter ANY whole foods ever?!
The mgr came in for one minute and inly listened to security and ignored anything i wanted to explain. He gave me email of loss prevention mgr (i requested and said i needed to talk to someone abouf this mistake). The email address got kicked back. I called the store for it again, they said they woukd get it and text/call me right back but stilk hasnt happened.
What can i do to change this outcome? I live and shop at whole foods often. This will /coukd affect my reputation, career, family, etc.
Also,i read online that they may send me a civil claim notice asking for $$? No one said anything about that?
I need to get this erased and my paperwork and photo and this ban etc removed atleast from all stores except the one it happened in ( so stunned and humiliatec to go back there for a while snyway).
I need to make sure no civil claim of money happens because never told anout such a thing by security.
