Legal Question in Criminal Law in New York
Hi. I'm in NYC and sadly behind in Child Support. This morning, I saw a Deputy Sheriff's Card on my door asking me to call someone. Then in the mailbox this afternoon, I received a letter from the Sheriff's Office that said "Confidential (underlined) documents issued out of court have been filed with this office." The letter then said I should come to their office between certain hours with a photo ID. Am I being arrested?

It sounds like you are being served with papers to probably appear in court and explain why you are behind in child support. You should contact an attorney who does divorce and custody work and then pick up the papers. Sooner or later, you will be served so you might as well get the paperwork after you speak with an attorney.
