Legal Question in Criminal Law in New York
Order of Protection
In an order of protection, it states that this particular defendant is to comply with conditions of behavior outlined by the order, which include not communicating my mail, telephone, email, voicemail etc. I know that this means he cannot contact the victim, but can the victim contact him?

Re: Order of Protection
The order of protection does not prevent the purported victim from contacting the person under the order. That said, the person subject to the order can still be found in criminal violation if he accepts the phone call and speaks to the alleged victim.
Too many people forget this and make the mistake of meeting to "work things out" or trying to "talk things over," only to end up in jail for violating the order.
Evidence that the alleged victim is trying to contact the person subject to the order may be grounds to have the order removed.
