Legal Question in Criminal Law in New York

Perjury

I was charged with a felony due to a false and malicious statement given to a police officer. The charges are likely to be dropped, since the charges are solely based on the false statement. Do I have any avenues to recover legal fees, time and suffering? This was a stressfull situation.

Re: Perjury

Only in very rare situations can a person sue to get back legal fees or some other relief. You should contact a good attorney in your area to discuss the matter and options.

You may be able to file suit against someone in such circumstances but there are very limited circumstances.
