It would be up to the District Attorney's office to make a decision as to the course of action. If the person is caught and it is determined that a false report has been made, the person can be charged with a misdemeanor of filing a false report, or obstruction of government administration or several other charges. In many cases it is plead down or given a waring. It is strictly in the hands of the District Attorney. You should get an attorney now if you thin this is a possibility to head off any problems.
