Depends on level of injury.
First Degree Assault is a violent C felony: Mandatory prison sentence and max time is 15 years.
Second Degree is a D felony and also a violent crime punishable by up to 7 years in jail.
Assault 3 degree is an A misdemeanor punishable for up to 1 year in prison, not mandatory but likely.
There are other charges that could be brought as well.
