Legal Question in Criminal Law in New York

peti larceny

A friend at school asked me to take his book bag for him and put it in the locker for him until later. I took the bag and put it in the locker never knowing what was in the bag. Apparently he had stolen a laptop computer. However, since I was the one who took the bag from him now I am being charged with a crime. What can I do?

Re: peti larceny

Get to a lawyer. You can be charged with a myriad of crimes some of them felonies. You could if you are under age 16 be sent to a juvi facility and if you are over 16 you could actually get a criminal conviction. This is dispite what a friend or even a cop tells you.

IF the item you were in possession of costs more than $1000 it is grand larceny and possession of stolen property.

If in fact you are charged with petit larceny, then while you face a misdemeanor, you can still see up to 60 days in jail. CALL A QUALIFIED CRIMINAL DEFESE ATTORNEY.

If you need to speak to someone about this matter, you may contact my office. Our conversation will be privileged. We handle many cases like this and would be happy to at least consult with you, it sounds like you need to speak to an adult.

Good luck.

Re: peti larceny

You need a competent criminal defense attorney to give you some very specific advice. It seems you are a minor and likely will face family court rather than criminal court prosecution. This still may involve time confined to a juvenile facility, that is no fun.You may contact my office@7188340087 for a free phone consultation, make sure your parents participate in this process.
