Legal Question in Criminal Law in New York
petit larceny
My son, age 25, was arrested and held for shoplifting at a local supermarket. He was given another court date and told to bring a lawyer. This is a first offense. Will there be a lawyer there the day of the court proceedings he can talk to or should he just retain his own counsel?

Re: petit larceny
If the court advised your son to get an attorney,it probably indicates he does not qualify for free legal counsel. Therefore you should retain private counsel. I hANDLE MATTERS SUCH AS YOUR SON'S ON A REGULAR BASIS AND I WOULD BE HAPPY TO HAVE A FREE PHONE CONSULTATION WITH HIM TO DISCUSS THE POSSIBILITIES.Please contact my office @7188340087.
