Legal Question in Criminal Law in New York
petity larceny
My friend and I were arrested for petity larceny last week.
We had about $65 worth of merchandise. I had only $12 worth
and she had the remainder. I am 17 years old and she is 18.
We have an appearance ticket for the 27th of April. I was
wondering if I need a parent to acompany me to court, or if
there is any other way to go about doing this.I was also
wondering if it made a diffeence that the cop that arrested
us never told us our miranda rights, and I thought if you
were arrested and you were under the age of 18 your parents
had to be notified. Well thank you for reading this, and any

Being over the age of 16 your parent does not have to be with you in court nor is the parent required to be present at the arrest process.With regard to Miranda and your right's thereunder ,if you made an involuntary or coerced confession, then with proper legal representation that confession should be suppressed.For more info you may call my office @718-834-0087.
