Up to one year in jail and a One Thousand ($1000.00)Dollar Fine. More than likely he or she is actually facing up to 60 days in jail and 3 years probation. Paying the 500 back before the case ends and without being asked can help reduce the likelihood of jail. Probation is possible but courts generally punish employee theft more harshly than regular petit larceny.
